ClickandBuy Announces Independent Music Store Deals
ClickandBuy, a backend ecommerce and payment processing company, has recently concluded deals with three independent music stores. The new partners are Icarus Music Store, Gambit Music Group and BeatRecords, all of whom are smaller-scale operations. The trio has tapped ClickandBuy to handle a number of monetary functions, including basic payment processing, monthly subscriptions, and micropayments. Gambit Music Group, based in Nashville, is an independent rock record label, while Beatrecords focuses on content from independent San Francisco musicians. Icarus Digital, based in Philadelphia, also offers independent artist downloads. "Most smaller merchants don't have an internal IT department for ecommerce," said Fabian G. Siegel, CTO of ClickandBuy.
The deals, announced Wednesday, will complement a number of larger relationships. The company, which is positioned in North America and Europe, pointed to deals with Skype, AOL Music, Electronic Arts, Kiplinger, and Univision. ClickandBuy now has a footprint that includes 6,000 online merchants and 7 million consumers, a number that has attracted venture capitalists and larger-scale partnerships. Last year, ClickandBuy received $23 million in venture funding, and Deutsche Telekom acquired a 10 percent stake in the company in August.
