Roaming initiative adds 1.7 million account holders to BT ClickandBuy customer base

BT has announced that BT ClickandBuy has launched a new ‘roaming’ initiative, giving the online payment solution access to an additional 1.7 million ClickandBuy account holders.
As of today, account holders of any of the ClickandBuy communities – in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Holland and the US – will be able to buy from BT ClickandBuy partner sites without the need to re-register. Account holders across the world can now easily access a broad range of UK based online content and services ranging from recipes from Delia Online and online video streams from The Travel Channel, to in-depth news articles and crosswords from The Independent and the latest ringtones from Iconaphone.
This new initiative is expected to appeal strongly to the expatriate community with leading web sites such as the Independent already attracting a high number of overseas visitors – two thirds of the Independent’s traffic is from an overseas audience.
Other BT ClickandBuy partners whose content is particularly suited to 'roaming' include:
- SoccerAssociation.com: access to 40,000 players and their clubs, world-wide
- Partymob: the latest ringtones, graphics and games for your mobile phone
- Encyclopaedia Britannica: the invaluable reference tool
- Mobile Entertainment Corporation: web cams and live cameras on mobiles
- Ownarea: the world’s first ‘lives on line’ browser
Account holders will be able to pay for content in their own currency – be it US dollars if registered in the US, Swiss francs in Switzerland or Euros.
There are already more than 60 online businesses offering premium digital content and services through BT ClickandBuy, and this number is growing rapidly.
